Until this winter, snow actually covering the ground was something I hadn't seen since I was a toddler. I hope my lack of snow-perience isn't too obvious on all of these snow pages. Most of this chapter was completed before I got my first glimpse of what several inches of snow on the ground while it is sunny looks like. The thing that really struck me the most when I actually witnessed snow was the lack of shadows and how it uniformly coats everything in a sea of white. Snow is really interesting looking.

Edit: I received some really great advice about snow from Nightsky. This page has been updated with overcast skies and lighting.

Snow also hurts to look at in sunlight.

Interesting! I did not know that (there wasn't enough snow here back in Dec/Jan for me to experience that). Is that part of what causes snow blindness?

Should I change the sky to over cast? Do over cast skies help with snow not hurting the eyes?

The sky being a little more overcast might be a good idea. Since snow is so white, when sunlight reflects off of it, it gets VERY bright, which can be painful to look at. Some drivers actually wear sunglasses to deal with it. If it's sunny and the middle of the day, I'd imagine your characters would be squinting a lot, so it might be a good idea to change the skies a bit. ^_^

Thanks so much for sharing about snow! I've gone back and updated the past several pages to reflect what you've said. I hope everything looks suitably overcast. :)
